On July 6th deputies in Seneca County said that they reported to a structure fire on Schier Road in the Town of Covert. Deputies report that when they arrived on the scene, the fire was extinguished by Trumansburg Fire Department. Mariah M. Plumlee, 36, of Covert was the owner of the home, which sustained minor damage. The Trumansburg Fire Department was the lead agency and was also assisted by Interlaken Fire Department. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was determined to be a cigarette, which was discarded outside a second story window. The smoldering cigarette started the wood siding on fire.
